An Au Pair is a
single person, aged between 17 and 27 who leaves her/his own country
in order to improve their knowledge of a foreign language and culture.
In return for full board and lodgings and weekly pocket money an Au
Pair is expected to help with the children: babysitting, helping the
children get dressed, making breakfast, light meal preparation, keeping
their rooms tidy, taking them to school and collecting them at the
end of the day. Additionally an Au Pair can be expected to help in
the home with light household duties such as dusting, hoovering, ironing,
bed-making, and some simple cooking.
The working day will vary, but should be in the region of 5 hours
per day. Free time is at least two full days per week, free time for
language classes plus several evenings by arrangement with the host
family. Hours and pocket money vary from family to family and area
to area.
Family Connections recommend that Au Pairs should not be left in sole
charge of children under 2 years old.
We place au pairs throughout the UK. |
